Geoffrion Gets A Look

New Hab Blake Geoffrion has been called up to the Montreal Canadiens club, with Louis Leblanc being sent down.

Since being traded to the Canadiens in a package for Hal Gill, Geoffrion has compiled 2 goals, 8 assists, 20 shots, a shootout game winning goal, a +1 rating, and 2 PIM in 5 games.

Geoffrion is a 4th generation NHLer and descendant of Habs greats Howie Morenz and Bernie “Boom Boom” Geoffrion.

He will be looking to impress Habs brass to get a head start on earning a roster spot for next season as Leblanc will continue his development in a scoring role with the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Leblanc has been impressive in his 26 NHL games for Montreal, as he wasn’t expected to get much time on the big club this season, but has outplayed Aaron Palushaj for the most part.

Brad Staubitz, claimed on waivers from the Minnesota Wild on Monday, will also be available to face the Lightning.
