In what can only be described as a “nope” scenario, according to RDS the Habs and the aging Francis Bouillon are ‘intensely negotiating a one-year contract extension.

We’ve already established that Francis Bouillon is below replacement level in the NHL. He wouldn’t be an insurance policy, he would be a clog in the youth movement pipeline.
As it stands, the Canadiens have 5 defensemen that are guaranteed a spot in training camp -Subban, Markov, Emelin, Gilbert, Weaver – which leaves a full time spot for either Nathan Beaulieu or Jarred Tinordi. Waiting in the wings are prospects like Magnus Nygren, Greg Pateryn and Morgan Ellis.
There’s really no reason to bring back Bouillon, seeing as the Habs already traded for an insurance policy on defense, in the form of Davis Drewiske.
The article sounds more like cheer leading from RDS rather than a concrete report, let’s just hope that it’s wishful thinking on their part.
