2021 NHL Draft: The Montreal Canadiens select Daniil Sobolev with 142nd pick

Despite having multiple picks in the fourth round, the Montreal Canadiens traded their final two in the round and added another fifth round pick at 150th overall. First up however was a selection at 142nd overall that the Habs acquired in a trade for Nate Thompson.

With that pick the club selected Daniil Sobolev from the Windsor Spitfires in the OHL, but due to the COVID pandemic did not play in any league this season.

In 48 MHL games in 2019-2020, Sobolev posted  two goals, four assists along with 47 penalty minutes, with the OHL set to resume this year Sobolev will join the Windsor Spitfires.
