Dalton Thrower and Josiah Didier have been reassigned from the St. Johns IceCaps, and will begin playing with the Brampton Beast this weekend.
Thrower played with the IceCaps for two games this season, recording two penalty minutes. Didier was -1 in the one game he played with the AHL team before being reassigned Saturday evening.
Thrower had a fantastic junior hockey career over the course of five years with the Saskatoon Blades and Vancouver Giants, making it to the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup in 2013.
“Dalton spent some time here in Brampton last year and we’re happy for him that he has been able to stick in the American Hockey League this season, although he hasn’t played a lot of hockey,” said Beast head coach Colin Chaulk.
“We’re excited to get him some minutes and get him back where he wants to be. Dalton brings a physical game with a lot of leadership. He moves the puck well and his fitness level is where it needs to be. We’re excited to have him.”
Beast play a full weekend of hockey
After a hard-fought 4-2 victory against the Manchester Monarchs last weekend, the Beast will look to continue their winning ways as they hit the road, making their way into Elmira to take on the Jackals.
The Jackals are third in the East, while the Beast are fourth in the North Division of the ECHL.
The Beast will then return to Brampton to play a Sunday afternoon game against the Kalamazoo Wings. Game time is 2:00 PM EST at the Powerade Centre.
It’ll be a special day as it’s Military Appreciation Day, and more than 1,000 tickets have been purchased by Kotak Law to be given to service men and women.
Doors open at 1:00pm, and Johnny Bower will be there signing autographs.
