The Montreal Canadiens may have dodged a bullet with Josh Anderson skating at practice on Thursday, but more bad news on the injury front as they announced that forward Christian Dvorak will require surgery for a torn pectoral muscle and will miss the rest of the season.

Dvorak will undergo surgery on Friday. It is the second year in a row that his season ends early because of an injury. He is the second player to be out for the remainder of the year, joining Kirby Dach. The team also has Alex Newhook, Tanner Pearson, and Rafaël Harvey-Pinard among players out long-term but expected to be back this season.

Dvorak missed the first month of the season and has three goals and four assists in 25 games. His last game was December 30 in the loss against the Florida Panthers. He has two years remaining on his contract, that will expire after the 2024-25 season.
