Charlie Lindgren recalled from the St. John’s IceCaps

The Canadiens have announced that goaltender Charlie Lindgren has been recalled from the St. John’s IceCaps of the AHL.

Lindgren played one game for the Canadiens last season, stopping 26 of the 28 shots sent his way, and earning an impressive win in his first NHL game. The NCAA standout will backup Al Montoya.

This comes on the heels of the announcement that Carey Price probably won’t be available during the season opener in Buffalo. Price is just the latest Habs player to battle the flu, following in Alex Radulov, Max Pacioretty, and Paul Byron’s footsteps.

On the bright side, at least they’re being hit by the illness before they season is well underway. Ideally they wouldn’t have to deal with the flu whatsoever, but in a locker room shared by 23 players, a virus can spread out of control rather quickly.

The Habs will face the Sabres at 7:00 PM EST on Thursday night.
