The American Hockey League announced their selection for the All-Star game, and two players from the St. John’s IceCaps made the list.

Charlie Lindgren has been absolutely sensational for the IceCaps in his rookie season in the Canadiens organization. Although his stats have dropped lately, Lindgren’s start to the season allowed the IceCaps to pull out some otherwise one-sided games and help pull out a win. In 23 games played, Lindgren has 13 wins with a .913 save percentage and a 2.79 GAA. He was voted one of the team’s three stars by Habs Eyes on The Prize in October and November.
Mark Barberio is nominated for a second time to the AHL all-star team, and for the second year in a row it is unknown whether he will play or not because he is with the Montreal Canadiens. In 20 games with the IceCaps this season, the defenceman played huge minutes in all situations, solely driving the offence from the blueline with three goals, and adding 15 assists. Last year he wasn’t released to play in the AHL All-Star game, and likely won’t be again this year. Last season the IceCaps sent Morgan Ellis in his place.
It’s also worth noting that Zachary Fucale was selected as an auxiliary goaltender for the ECHL All-Star game, meaning that should one of the starting goaltenders be unable to play Fucale gets in. If this would be the case the Montreal Canadiens would have a goaltender in the All-Star games for the NHL (Carey Price), AHL (Lindgren), and ECHL.
