Cayden Primeau named to AHL All-Rookie team

Montreal Canadiens prospect and Laval Rocket goaltender Cayden Primeau was named to the AHL All-Rookie team for the 2019-20 season.

Primeau was in his first professional season with the Rocket. He played in 33 games and was 17-11-3 with a .908 save percentage and a 2.45 goals against average for the team. He also made his NHL debut with the Canadiens, going 1-1 in two games with a 2.52 goals against average and a .931 save percentage.

The goaltender has become one of the top goaltending prospects in hockey, coming a long way from being a seventh-round pick in 2017. He turns 21 in August, and is likely to be the starting goaltender for the Rocket.

Rocket head coach Joël Bouchard started off alternating his goaltenders, but was prepared to ride Primeau down the stretch as they were looking for their first playoff berth since moving to Laval.

He is the first Rocket player to be named to the All-Rookie team since the team moved.
