PENALTY SUMMARY
1ST PERIOD
16:00 MTL P.K. SUBBAN : INTERFERENCE – 2 MIN (DEREK STEPAN)
2ND PERIOD
02:43 NYR KRIS NEWBURY : BOARDING – 2 MIN (FRANCIS BOUILLON)
10:13 NYR RICK NASH : INTERFERENCE – GOALKEEPER – 2 MIN (CAREY PRICE)
Remember at the beginning of the year when the NHL said it wanted to protect goalies in the wake of the Lucic/MIller hit that resulted in Miller being concussed? Well it’s put up or shut up time now. Rick Nash charged Carey Price under no pressure and hammered him in the crease. He got two minutes for it, and Price’s good friend P.K. Subban seemed determined to exact revenge, eventually succeeding when his shot turned into a Brendan Gallagher goal on a goal mouth scramble.
If the NHL actually cares about protecting goalies though, Nash should have a hearing tomorrow with Brendan Shanahan, especially after narrowly escaping suspension a week ago. He must have jumped at least 8 inches. Heh.
Speaking of Subban, he has 3 points tonight, putting him second in points among defensemen after Kris Letang.
