Any fears that a nagging injury to Carey Price would affect his game were allayed with a shutout performance on Thursday night, as he stopped the 33 shots the Vancouver Canucks tested him with. It was his second shutout of the year, and his ninth win in his last 12 starts. He’ll need another great performance tonight versus the best defensive team in the NHL; one that is allowing an average of about two-and-a-half goals per game.

Despite that ability to keep pucks out of their own net, the Predators have just recently snapped a six-game losing streak, getting consecutive wins before falling again last night to the Detroit Red Wings in overtime. It’s a bit of a mid-season slide for one of the top teams in the Western Conference, and one the Canadiens will hope to capitalize on.

The home team will be relying on its hottest player to keep his streak going. I am, of course, speaking of Jordie Benn, who has five points in his last five games, two goals in his last three, and is riding a three-game point streak. With Jamie facing criticism in Dallas for his recent play, Jordie has seized his opportunity to be the best of the Brothers Benn, and won’t be eager to relinquish those bragging rights anytime soon.
