Canadiens vs Penguins Top Six Minutes: Put us out of our misery edition

  • That start was weird. Because it looked okay for a bit, and then Evgeni Malkin took control of the game.
  • I could watch Max Pacioretty skate the puck into the zone for hours… days… weeks… months… years… forever.
  • Except for in a Team USA sweater.
  • The losses don’t even make me angry, anymore. They just make me sad.
  • Rene Bourque compliment of the night, for JD__: he scored a goal and they did NOT call it off (h/t Jerkshire for that one).
  • Jussi Jokinen is fun to say. Not so fun to watch against your team.
  • I hate the Penguins so much, but damn are they good.
  • And Nathan Beaulieu was skating with them. Would it have been so bad if the Habs hadn’t signed Boullion and Murray and brought up Beaulieu and Jarred Tinordi?
  • The answer is no, it would not have been so bad. It would have be so good. These guys are joining the core, anyway, why waste a year not teaching them? More on this tomorrow.
  • Seriously, WHAT THE HELL IS FRANCIS BOULLION AND DOUGLAS MURRAY VS THE LIKES OF SIDNEY CROSBY AND EVGENI MALKIN?
  • You know what, though, you guys, more than halfway into the game, the Habs were leading in the fancy stats. Then it all took a massive dip before it finally somewhat stabilized by the end of the game, which makes the defensive gong show breakdowns even more infuriating.
  • Poor Pricey. Let’s all take a moment and imagine the look of childlike wonder he will have on his face the first time he plays in Sochi. Think about it. Carey Price has never not needed to bail his team out, except briefly last season. So excited to see what’s going to happen behind a competent defense.
  • The score in Pittsburgh was 5-1, and Marc-Andre Fleury was not the goaltender that got pulled.
  • For the record, Peter Budaj would have eaten him alive.
  • The officials trying to restrain them were hilarious.
  • Not a banner night for Andrei Markov.
  • I’ll have more on the anger stuff tomorrow, but this team is so broken, and it’s so unnecessary, and now the Leafs are tied with the Habs in the standings and eventually the games in hand will be played and when all of the games are over the Habs might find themselves on the outside looking in and this sucks you guys.
  • Hey, at least the game wasn’t boring.
  • And at least maybe now things will start to be more obvious to Michel Therrien defenders.
  • EOTP three stars! Third star: “Cube cubed,” by Hag, re triple shifting Francis Boullion. Second Star: “I think Elmer Lach could probably still skate faster than Murray,” by gary 7986. First star: “This game is what George Lucas and Steven Spielberg did to Indiana Jones,” by Max An.
  • On to Detroit.
  • Ugh.
