Canadiens vs. Lightning Top Six Minutes: Out with a bang

For one last time, we get to see the 2015-16 Montreal Canadiens. Can they close out the regular season sweep of the Lightning? Can they get through without losing anyone else to one last injury? Can Pacioretty and Galchenyuk hit 30?

This is my last TSM in my first year with EOTP. Thank you everyone!

As hellish as this season was, I’ll miss this team so much.

First Period

  • For a change the forward lines look respectable from top to bottom.
  • Right off the bat, The Habs are buzzing…so they ice the puck. Because Habs.
  • Desharnais line wants a goal.
  • Oh my Vasilevskiy
  • GALCHENYUK HAS TWENTY-NINE.
  • Blunden is playing tonight. What are the odds he scores? Pretty good, right?
  • It’s so nice to see the Habs being the team looking strong AND currently leading.
  • Condon seems to be on his game tonight.
  • Even the powerplay is less awful than it’s been. Not that it’s WORKING, but hey. They’re moving and shooting.
  • Or it did…for the first half…not so great after that…
  • Eesh. Hope Johnson is ok.
  • NOW THAT’S THE PENALTY KILL I REMEMBER. What a feed by Eller. What a goal by Plekanec.
  • Tomas Plekanec has sole position of 20th in goals scored all time for the Habs. Just in case you forgot how awesome Turtleneck Plek is.
  • Galchenyuk almost had 30, and it’s only the end of one!

Second Period

  • TWENTY NINE FOR PATCH
  • Oh boy. I’ve missed these Habs.
  • On the other hand, how much of this is the Habs, and how much of it is that the Lightning are BAD tonight…
  • HE DID IT. HE F-ING DID IT. ALEXANDER GALCHENYUK HAS THIRTY GOALS.
  • The General passes Rocket Richard for assists among Habs all time!
  • Paul Byron??? Is???? Fighting????
  • As if this game couldn’t get any more goofy.
  • And we’ve only just reached the half-way mark.
  • That was a very soft call on Chucky. Two minutes for being pretty, scoring 30 goals, and being generally a delightful player to watch. How dare.
  • This is what happens when you lose huge swaths of the best players on your team. You get crushed by a team well out of the playoffs. #SoundsFamiliar
  • Thank you Condo.
  • DO NOT TOUCH CONDO.
  • Pacioretty was just robbed of his 30th. What a move by Vasilevskiy.

Third Period

  • That was a nice series of up ice passes from Hanley, Dietz, Plekanec and Eller.
  • The Galchenyuk line wants a couple more goals tonight.
  • See, those two hits are the kinds of hits you want. The kind that separates the puck carrier from the puck. Maybe not big and flashy, but far more effective.
  • Yeeeahh that’s a good goal. Boo.
  • Ohh they challenged! This game really has everything.
  • WE WON THE CHALLENGE????? WE NEVER WIN THINGS? What is happening. (The answer is clearly everything. Bob Cole is calling the game, so everything is happening.)
  • Amazing.
  • Well that was a very Habs turn of events. Oh Condo. Markov tried.
  • 4-1. The most uneasy lead in hockey.
  • STOP RUNNING CONDON OVER.
  • See, that’s more the PP I’m used to.
  • Never change, Habs. (And by that, I mean, please change that aspect of your game as soon as humanly possible.)
  • So that thing about the most uneasy lead…don’t blow it. STOP THAT.
  • We’re gonna lose this game aren’t we.
  • I don’t know about you, but I really could use a Pacioretty goal right about now…
  • I would also take an Emelin goal.
  • Please get it out of the zone… please stop making me scared…
  • Let Pacioretty get the empty net…
  • HE DID IT
  • THIRTY GOALS.
  • WE HAVE TWO THIRTY GOAL SCORERS.
  • They did it. The season is over.
  • Thank you, and goodnight!
  • #GoHabsGo/
