Things started off poorly for the Montreal Canadiens on Monday night. Turnovers at the start of the game kept all four lines hemmed in their own zone on their opening shifts, and it finally cost them a goal when Matthew Peca’s went right onto the stick of a Bruins player on the fourth’s turn, leading to the opening goal.

It was all downhill from there as the Canadiens didn’t manage to find their legs all night, taking a 4-0 loss that felt much worse with the way the home team played.

Now on the road for three games before the Christmas break, the players have all said that they need to play a lot better than they did in their final appearance in front of the Bell Centre crowd in the 2018 calendar year. It should be a very different team that faces off against the Colorado Avalanche tonight.

At least two faces will be new from that defeat. Peca’s turnover on the first goal has played a part in costing him his lineup spot, which he hands over to Charles Hudon for tonight’s game. Back up from the Laval Rocket, Victor Mete will take Brett Kulak’s spot in the lineup as the Habs hope for a shake-up on the back end.
