The 22 year-old centre collected 55 points in 143 NCAA games, all at Michigan State. This season, he scored three goals and had 13 assists over 35 games.
Future Considerations ranked Ebbing 121st prior to the 2013 NHL Draft when he was still in the USHL.
Ebbing would add depth to either the Brampton Beast or the Laval Rocket in the AHL. This deal does not include eligibility to be called up to the NHL, however he will probably participate in the Canadiens’ annual rookie tournament and development camp.
The Troy, Michigan native was a high-scoring forward in high school, but developed into a defensively sound two-way player, noted for his shot-blocking and faceoff play in the NCAA.
He was also awarded the Most Improved Player award in his junior year (the 2015-16 season).
Ebbing is a left-handed shot, measuring 5’11” and weighing in at 192 lbs. Get to know the newest addition to the Habs’ extended family with this ‘5 Questions’ segment from Michigan State.
