The Canadiens/Bruins rivalry is the feature game on Wednesday night, and it promises to be a good one. Montreal is well back of a playoff position and if they want to stay in the race they need to keep stringing wins together. They had been doing that since early January, but on Monday suffered defeat to a team they should have beaten, and now they need to claim wins versus top-level competition.

After the Bruins they face the Pittsburgh Penguins and Dallas Stars, but no player — on either side — will be looking beyond the task at hand this evening. The Bruins are also looking for a bounce-back game after a loss to the last-place Detroit Red Wings on Monday, eager to get back into the win column at home.

Montreal received some good news ahead of the game, as Phillip Danault is able to go after missing the latter half of the previous match. He’ll be wearing a cage to prevent further damage after taking a puck in the face versus the Arizona Coyotes. Shea Weber will not be on the ice however, out for at least a month with a sprained ankle. It’s up to the likes of Jeff Petry and Ben Chiarot to defend against one of the NHL’s top offences, and find ways to get their own team on the board as well.
