Bulldogs Weekly Report: Gabriel Dumont leading the charge for Hamilton

Bulldogs Player of the Week: Gabriel Dumont

After a short call up with the Montreal Canadiens the Bulldogs captain returned to Hamilton. Dumont would pick up right where he left off too recording three points in two games played this past week.

In his first game back Dumont would be the catalyst in a Bulldogs 2-1 win over the Iowa Wild. With the Bulldogs down a goal Dumont tipped home a Shane Bakker shot to tie the game. He wasn’t finished there as late in the third period he potted his fourteenth goal of the year that ended up being the game winner. Dumont ended the weekend with a single assist against the Toronto Marlies in a 4-2 loss to their Ontario rivals.

Not quite content with that Dumont would register three more points in a wild 7-5 win over the Utica Comets on Monday afternoon. He grabbed a pair of assists and scored his fifteenth goal of the season.

Charles Hudon: After setting the scoresheet ablaze in the previous week Charles Hudon was at it yet again for the Bulldogs. Playing alongside Sven Andrighetto the rookie forward grabbed three assists on the weekend, all in a 7-5 win over Utica. Hudon is currently tied for sixth in overall scoring in the AHL and continues to lead all rookies.

Sven Andrighetto: Remember when I said Andrighetto was slumping? Please ignore all of that as the Swiss forward registered five points this past weekend. Andrighetto grabbed one goal which was the game winner against Utica and four assists across three games played. Take a look at his handiwork in a 7-5 win over Utica where he and Hudon combined for seven points.

Daniel Carr: The rookie forward continues to have a great season after registering his fourteenth goal of the season against Toronto in a 4-2 loss. He continued his hot streak on Monday when he opened the scoring for Hamilton in a 7-5 win over the Comets tying him for the team lead in goals with Gabriel Dumont.

Drayson Bowman: The AHL veteran is in the middle of a scoring slump and didn’t register any points this week in three games played.

Christian Thomas: The speedy winger is still on recall with the Canadiens and scored his first NHL goal against Edmonton.

Davis Drewiske: After several weeks of solid offensive production Drewiske failed to record a point in three games this week.

Darren Dietz: Despite missing the first game of the week due to injury Dietz still managed an assist against Toronto. He went without a point against Utica on Monday afternoon.

Greg Pateryn: The Bulldogs utility defenseman continues to log huge minutes alongside Jarred Tinordi for Hamilton. With his solid consistent play Pateryn has earned a call up to Montreal.

Magnus Nygren: Unfortunately Nygren has returned home to Sweden to continue recovering from a concussion.

Mac Bennett: The former Michigan Wolverine did not record any points on the week .

Jacob de la Rose: The young Swede is currently on recall with the Canadiens where he is seeing time on the penalty kill for Michel Therrien. De la Rose grabbed his first career NHL point Christian Thomas’s first NHL goal, he also set up a game winning goal with an epic backcheck

Eric Tangradi: The veteran forward continues to produce following his return from injury. Tangradi recorded an assist on Daniel Carr’s goal against the Marlies. He was however, held pointless against Utica in the following game.

Jarred Tinordi: The hulking blueliner recorded no points this week in the NHL, but logged big minutes alongside Greg Pateryn.

Connor Crisp: After sitting most of the last month with an upper body injury Crisp returned to the Bulldogs lineup. In his return he recorded a single assist in a 7-5 win over Utica and zero penalty minutes.

Bryan Allen: The veteran defensemen finally found the scoresheet for Hamilton with a goal and assist against Utica on Monday afternoon.

Jack Nevins: The resident enforcer is still recuperating from an injury suffered against Grand Rapids.

Morgan Ellis: It’s unclear why Ellis is still in the ECHL despite outperforming recent call ups David Makowski and Bobby Shea. Ellis recorded a goal and two assists this past weekend for the Wheeling Nailers.

Dalton Thrower: The rugged rearguard recorded zero points for the Brampton Beast of the ECHL.

Mike Condon: The rookie netminder had his first “down” week in what seems like forever this past week. Condon went 2-1-0 with a 3.42 GAA and .881 SV% in his three starts against Iowa,Toronto, and Utica.

Joey MacDonald: The Bulldogs backup goalie did not see any action this week.
