Hamilton Bulldogs Game Thread: Bulldogs @ Americans

The Bulldogs travel to Rochester to take on the Americans for the 6th time this season. In the previous match-ups the Bulldogs won once, lost in a shoot out once, and dropped the other 3 games.

Hamilton is on a bit of a hot streak with the recent play of Robert Mayer and company, they haven’t lost in regulation in 3 straight games, dropping one in a shootout and winning the other two. Mayer has started those three straight games, and he happened to start the game Hamilton beat Rochester earlier this season. Though the starting goaltenders have yet to be announced, look for Mayer to get his fourth straight start.

A few AHL teams have been sitting out some of their players because of the impending training camp, Hamilton is not one of those, look for all the usual faces tonight to take the ice. This is probably because, unlike other teams, the Dogs do not have players that are guarenteed a roster spot with their NHL affiliate.

Rochester on the other hand will be without Cody Hodgson and Marcus Foligno. Both of whom didn’t play in Rochester’s previous game, a 2-0 win against the Syracuse Crunch.

This could be a good opportunity for the Bulldogs to take advantage of a team adapting to being without many NHL caliber players, and could help them get out of the basement.

Puck drop is 7pm.
