Brett Lernout recalled by Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens have recalled defenceman Brett Lernout from the St. John’s IceCaps

The defenceman was an emergency recall, likely due to the injury to Alexei Emelin. Emelin left last night’s game with a lower body injury. The team is already without Shea Weber, and Jordie Benn and had no other defenceman on the roster. The injury to Weber is not believed to be serious. No updates have been given on Benn’s status.

Lernout will be at practice on Friday in Brossard as the Canadiens prepare for the final two games of their regular season and will likely play against the Lightning.

He played one game in the NHL last year, but it ended in injury that cost him the rest of his season. This year, he has played 71 games for the IceCaps scoring three goals and adding 13 assists.

Lernout was a third round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.
