Brendan Gallagher undergoes surgery, will miss eight weeks

Following an incident which saw him hit with a Shea Weber slapshot to the left hand, Brendan Gallagher has undergone surgery to fix the fracture he sustained.

The Canadiens announced that he will miss at least eight weeks as he recovers from the surgery. It’s bad luck for the forward, who seemed to be hitting his groove lately after a slow start for the season.

Gallagher is not the first teammate Weber has accidentally injured with his rocket of a shot.

Fortunately, the eight week recovery period puts him on pace to be healthy by the time the Canadiens enter the playoffs. And it’s also worth noting that it was not the same fingers injured as last year.
