Bournival assigned to the Bulldogs for the weekend

The Montreal Canadiens have chosen to assign Michael Bournival to the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs this weekend, although they intend on recalling him to the Habs next week.

After playing a large amount of his rookie year alongside Tomas Plekanec and Brian Gionta Bournival slowly saw his minutes dwindle as he was shifted down to the fourth line.

This year with the re-signing of Dale Weise and Brandon Prust being healthy the Shawinigan native saw his ice time cut even more and has yet to play in the regular season.

It’s a creative solution by GM Marc Bergevin to find his young player some ice time, seeing as Bournival is likely to see NHL action in the near future.
