The Canadiens are icing a decidedly more experienced preseason lineup against the Avalanche than that used against the Bruins on Tuesday. Colorado also iced a good number of regulars, resulting in a fast paced first period of action. Aside from a few minor misqueues and a Greg Pateryn penalty, it was a strong frame of hockey from the Tricolore.
Carey Price looked quite comfortable in his return to the Habs crease, and had no chance on a goal beautifully set up by Nathan MacKinnon. The aforementioned MacKinnon is very good at hockey by the way. Christian Thomas was perhaps the most impressive player on the ice, and P.A. Parenteau looked quite comfortable with Max Pacioretty and David Desharnais. Lots to be happy about in the first period in spite of the score.
