After defeating the Binghamton Senators 4-1 on Tuesday, the IceCaps took on the Rochester Americans last night and put up quite a battle. Forcing the game all the way to a shootout, Stefan Matteau notched the winning goal during the fourth round to edge out the Amerks in a 4-3 victory.
This weekend they’ll face their rivals, the Toronto Marlies, in back-to-back contests for the second time this month.

- Leading goal-scorer, Charles Hudon, was recalled to the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday, November 17, recording an assist in his first game of the season.

There seems to be a pattern when the IceCaps take part in a weekend series. They usually come out strong in the first game and are rewarded with a win. During the rematch, however, they tend to come up short.
As was the case the last time they took on their foes, the Toronto Marlies.
Along with their 4-1 victory in the Saturday-night matchup, the team had many other achievements:
- Charlie Lindgren remained undefeated between the pipes with his sixth win of the season, turning away 26 of 27 shots and earning first-star honours.
- Michael McCarron finally picked up his first goal of the season which turned out to be the game-winner.
- Scherbak picked up an assist on Hudon’s opening goal to extend his point streak (5G, 3A) to six games.
- Sven Andrighetto pulled the IceCaps ahead to make it 3-1, continuing on with his point-per-game streak. /
On Sunday afternoon, try as they might, the IceCaps just couldn’t get the extra edge they needed to beat the Marlies for a second time. St. John’s was the first on the scoreboard again thanks to Matteau, who, unassisted, notched his fourth goal of the season, the first of which wasn’t an empty-netter.
This seemed to make the Marlies a little miffed, and by the end of the first period, they had a 3-1 lead.
Chris Terry racked up his fifth goal, pulling the IceCaps within one during the second period, and it seemed as if it would be an even game when McCarron found the back of the net not long after. The goal was reviewed and called back due to a high stick.
Though they fought hard, keeping the shots to a close margin — 31 to 30 — they were unable to grab the win, the result being a 3-2 loss. This was the sixth loss for the IceCaps, but it was Lindgren’s first pro loss, giving him a record of 6-1-0.
