2019 World Junior Hockey Championship schedule: December 29, 2018

Group A Preliminary Games

4 PM ET: Switzerland vs Denmark

This game will likely decide which team heads to the relegation round out of Group A. Switzerland will look to turn two one-goal losses, including one in overtime, into a win against Denmark while the Danes look to get a win that will secure them a place in the quarterfinal, but Switzerland has proven to be a very good team in this tournament. The game will be shown on TSN 1/4 and RDS in Canada and NHL Network in the USA.

8 PM ET: Canada vs Czech Republic

Canada is coming off of a tough win against Switzerland, and will look to keep their momentum going but this game against the Czech Republic will be their toughest test yet. The Canadians will also have some new lines for this one. The Czech Republic fell 2-1 to Russia yesterday, and will put up a tough fight against Canada. Their top line of Martin Necas, Martin Kaut, and Filip Zadina was reunited in the game yesterday. The game will be on TSN 1/3/4 and RDS in Canada and NHL Network in the United States.

Group B Preliminary Games

6:30 PM ET: Finland vs Slovakia

This is an important game for both teams as they seemingly battle for the third spot in Group B. Both teams lost to Sweden, while Finland beat Kazakhstan and Slovakia lost to the United States in a close game. Finland has not shown all they can be through two games and will have to avoid a slip up against Slovakia. For the Slovaks, they will look to put a scare into Finland like they did the USA. The game will be available on TSN.ca

10:30 PM ET: Sweden vs United States

Sweden will look to keep their 46-game winning streak in round robin play going in what will be their toughest test. Coming off of wins against Finland and Slovakia, Sweden will look to continue their strong play and have been getting a lot of offence from their defence, as was expected. The United States got their offence going against Kazakhstan but the big question going into this one will be the status of Jack Hughes, who missed Friday night’s game for precautionary reasons. The game will be on TSN 3 and RDS in Canada, NHL Network in the US.

All games shown on TSN will be streamed on TSN Go in Canada, but it requires a subscription to TSN.
