2019 NHL Entry Draft: Day Two — Preview, start time, TV schedule, and how to watch

After the first 31 selections were made in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft last night, the teams get back to work to add another 186 prospects to the league’s talent pool on Day Two.

The first round presented plenty of surprises, with Jack Hughes being taken first overall one of the only decisions that didn’t raise a few eyebrows. The Chicago Blackhawks started the run of unexpected calls by going slightly off the board to take Kirby Dach at third, with one of the biggest shocks being Moritz Seider chosen sixth.

Teams deviating from the consensus allowed some top-end forwards to slide down the order, and that was great news for the Montreal Canadiens. At 15th, they had a choice between Peyton Krebs and Cole Caufield, opting for the latter.

With some prospects being taken quite a bit earlier than expected, there is still a lot of value on the board for Saturday. Today is when the amateur scouting staffs’ work all pays off — or not — as teams try to find the players who will beat the odds and make the NHL from among the majority of prospects who won’t.
