On Day Two of the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Games, the top contenders for the gold medal in the women’s hockey tournament play their first matches. Team Canada will look to get off on the right foot as they attempt to keep their crown for a fifth consecutive time at women’s hockey’s premier event, while the USA will be determined to knock them off the throne.

The Americans get a tough test right away, as they will play the team that claimed bronze at the Women’s World Championship in 2017. The Finns have finished no lower than fourth at that annual international championship, but they did not make it to the semifinals at the 2014 Olympics, and will hope to show that they’re intent on medalling with a good performance today.
Canada vs. Olympic Athletes from Russia
Start time: 7:10 AM EST/4:10 AM PST
In Canada: CBC, CBC Olympics
In the USA: USA Network
Russia has seen just as much success as Finland at the World Championship in the last four years, but have never made the final four at the Olympics. The nation doesn’t have a chance to do that this year with its quasi-disqualification from the event but the players can go after a first taste of the medal round.
Men’s Tournament
The men’s ice hockey tournament at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics begins on Wednesday, February 14.
