2017 NHL Entry Draft: Montreal Canadiens select D Josh Brook 56th overall

With the 56th overall pick, in round two of the NHL draft, the Montreal Canadiens drafted defenceman Josh Brook.

Brook is a right-handed defenceman who is 6’2”, 185. He was ranked as a mid-second round pick, so he provides good value to the Canadiens at the end of Round 2.

Brooke played five games at the Under-18 World Championships getting two assists in five games. He his a defenceman who is solid in his own zone who could also provide offence from the back-end. He had 40 points last season with the Moose Jaw Warriors.

As the Canadiens defensive depth has been hit with trades lately, Brook is a solid addition to the group that includes Victor Mete and Noah Juulsen.

Brook was ranked 54th in our consensus rankings, with a high rank of 33 from Draft Buzz. Bob McKenzie had him at 47.

The Canadiens also had the 58th pick in the draft.
