World Junior Hockey Championship schedule: December 28, 2016

Group A Preliminary Game

5 PM ET: Denmark vs Switzerland

Up until a couple of days ago, the only two wins that Denmark has had at the top level of the World Junior Hockey Championships were against the Swiss. Now, with two straight wins under their belt, the Danes will look to clinch second spot in Group A. A win would clinch second spot for Denmark who won an overtime thriller against the Czech Republic on Thursday.

A Denmark win in regulation would be huge for Finland, as it would mean that the New Year’s Eve showdown between Finland and Switzerland is for the final spot in the quarterfinal.

Any Switzerland win would send Finland to the relegation round, one year after Finland won gold. The game will be on TSN 1/3 and RDS2.

Group B Preliminary Game

7:30 PM ET: United States vs Slovakia

After a big 6-1 win against Latvia, the United States look to face a Slovakian team that lost 5-0 to Canada yesterday. Clayton Keller had two goals for the Americans. The US got off to a slow start against Latvia, and took too many penalties. It will be interesting to see how they respond as the tournament goes on as their schedule only gets tougher from here.

Alex Huska had a great game for Slovakia against Canada, and Slovakia will look to respond from a game where they only had six shots. The way the group is going, any points that Slovakia can muster against Canada, Russia, and the US would be huge but their fate will likely come down to their game against Latvia. The game will be on TSN 1/3/4/5 and RDS2 in Canada. The NHL Network will be showing the game in the US.

All games shown on TSN will be streamed on TSN Go in Canada, but it requires a subscription to TSN.
