- So thanks to Kyle Dubas, are the Leafs about to become an analytics-based powerhouse? He has this vision for the team: “I know we want to be a team that plays with more skill and makes more plays, exits our zone with control, enters the opposition’s zone with control. I think that lends itself to more shots and more offense” [NHL]
- Meanwhile, in the front office: Dave Nonis and Brendan Shanahan say they’re comfortable with each other. I’d believe it more if the NHL feature image of the two doesn’t have them giving each other a shady side-eye. Interestingly, Kyle Dubas mentions that the two aren’t always welcoming to players whom Dubas found worth pursuing. [NHL]
- Alex Ovechkin’s adorable date with a 10 year old called Ann Schaab. “[Ann] came with the Washington Ice Dogs, a team for developmentally disabled individuals, and once, when an Ovechkin pass found her stick, Ann skated over and invited him to her house, proposing to eat sushi and play kickball.” [Washington Post]
