Friday Habs Links: Tomas Plekanec has trained hard all Summer.

Montreal Canadiens Links

  • Tomas Plekanec doesn’t take too many days off, and it seems to be working for the (knock on wood) rarely injured center. Plekanec said this week, “I need to sweat. I feel bad if I don’t sweat for a few days.” Well Tomas, keep sweating. [Canadiens]
  • P.K. Subban answered some teammate trivia, how did he do? [Canadiens]
  • So apparently EA Sports NHL 15′ thinks that Max Pacioretty is the Captain of the Montreal Canadiens. Pacioretty was asked what he thought about his likeness donning the “C” for the Habs in the popular video game. [NHL]
  • Don’t miss the Canadian Tire White vs. Red scrimmage at the Bell Centre on September 22nd. [Canadiens]
  • Oh no! Now the Canadiens will be in a full fledged drama series with this quote from the great Marty Brodeur today. It looks like the legendary, but fading goaltender is willing to be a back up to Carey Price. The real question is though, is he willing to back up Peter Budaj and Dustin Tokarski too? [Toronto Sun]
  • Don’t forget to try out to be the next Habs anthem singer. Can you sing in English and French? Go try out. [Global News]
  • Carey and Angela Price are all geared up for Cinco de Mayo. They will just have to keep these outfits on for the next eight months or so. I hope that sombrero fits under his mask.

Around the NHL

  • The “Bertuzzi-Moore Saga” has finally been settled ten years after the fact. Moore believes that he can now move on past the hit that ended his career in 2004. [TSN]
  • Gary Bettman is vehemently denying that the NHL is expanding. So, of course, we will all talk about NHL expansion until he vehemently accepts that the NHL is expanding won’t we? [TSN]
  • The Colorado Avalanche have signed defenseman Tyson Barrie to a two-year contract extension worth $5.2M. Barrie was a 3rd round pick (64th overall) by the Avalanche in 2009 and sustained a knee injury in Game 3 of this year’s first round playoffs against the Minnesota Wild ending his season. [NHL]
  • Check out NHL.com’s Top Ranked Fantasy Right Wingers for the upcoming 2014-2015 season. Number one always seemed to be a no-brainer with Alex Ovechkin in the league, but did his minus 35 on ice goal differential from last season dethrone the “Great 8”? Check it out. [NHL]
  • Of all the sports franchises of the four major North American sports, whose fans swear the most? I don’t think it will come as a surprise to any Habs fan who has driven 300 miles southeast to see a hockey game. [Sporting News]
