Canadiens vs Lightning second period thread

The Habs could not convert on an early 4-minute powerplay on which they produced 5 shot attempts and 3 shots on net. The Habs subsequently gave up a powerplay, with Greg Pateryn getting caught with his stick high on Nikita Kucherov, which the Lightning promptly scored on after Valterri Filpula threw a puck towards the net, having it bank off Andrei Markov. Talk about being expeditious. Less than five minutes later, Steven Stamkos is handed a chance to take a wide open shot and blasted one past Carey Price to put the Lightning up 2-0.

It was one of those periods where the Habs stayed with the opposition blow for blow, but could not rely on legendary-level goaltending from their keeper to keep them in the game . The Habs performed at a level of 48.3 CF%, which for this team is good.

The second period is up next, and with the Habs “first period warmup” out of the way, hopefully they bring some finish with them out of the intermission.
