The Rangers looked like the team that ended the regular season with the most points, getting out to a 3-0 lead on Washington in the second period and shutting things down in the third to claim the win. The Capitals went zero-for-four on the power play in the game, and that’s an area they can improve upon to give themselves a better chance in this series.
Game 2: Tampa Bay Lightning @ Florida Panthers
FLA leads 1-0

The Lightning were a team all season long that was bailed out by talent on nights they probably should have lost. They were able to score twice in a Game 1 in which they had just 19 shots, but the second goal came too late for them to complete the comeback. As strong as their talent is, they’ll need to play a more even match tonight if they want to even the series.
Game 2: Colorado Avalanche @ Winnipeg Jets
WPG leads 1-0
How to watch
Start time: 9:30 PM EDT / 6:30 PM PDT
In Canada: CBC,(English) TVA Sports (French)
In the U.S.: ESPN
Streaming: CBC Gem, ESPN+, Sportsnet+
On Sunday night, Colorado and Winnipeg played the highest-scoring playoff game since 1985. Neither Alexandar Georgiev nor Connor Hellebuyck was happy with his performances in that game, and each will try to do a better job at limiting the offence of these powerful clubs.
Game 2: Nashville Predators @ Vancouver Canucks
VAN leads 1-0
How to watch
Start time: 10:00 PM EDT / 7:00 PM PDT
In Canada: Sportsnet (English) TVA Sports 2 (French)
In the U.S.: ESPN2
Streaming: ESPN+, Sportsnet+
The Predators may have gone on a tear during the season to make the playoffs, but they still entered as underdogs versus Vancouver. Both the offence and defence that had been so strong for the Canucks were evident in their 4-2 win in Game 1, but tonight they will need to get a win without Thatcher Demko in net.
