IceCaps Player of the Week: Charles Hudon
It was a massive week for the IceCaps forward, who is currently the centerpiece of a depleted IceCaps roster. With four points in three games, it appears the extra pressure to produce offense isn’t getting to the sophomore forward. The way he’s playing, he may earn an audition with the Canadiens soon.
He began with a goal and an assist in a 4-3 loss to the Albany Devils, before being held pointless in a 4-1 loss at Utica, where he recorded a fighting major against Jordan Subban. He would end the week with another assist, and another goal in a 5-1 win over the Syracuse Crunch. With 18 goals and 22 assists, Hudon has broken the forty point barrier for the second consecutive year, and needs one more goal to tie last year’s total.

Bud Holloway: After failing to find the scoresheet last week, the IceCaps leading scorer was back to his usual ways, as he collected a goal and an assist in three games.
Michael McCarron: While he was held without a point at the AHL level, McCarron would record his first career NHL point in a 4-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. The rookie forward tipped a shot past Jonathan Bernier, and Devante Smith-Pelly swatted the puck in the net for the game-winning goal.
Daniel Carr: Still the shelf for up to three months with a major knee injury sustained on January 26.
Sven Andrighetto: The Swiss winger has been quiet of late, but recorded an assist in Montreal’s win over Toronto on Saturday night.
Morgan Ellis: The top IceCaps defenceman managed one assist in a 4-1 loss to the Utica Comets, before being called up to the Canadiens. He has yet to be dressed for a game in the NHL.
Mark Barberio: Due to season ending injuries for Tom Gilbert, and Jeff Petry, in addition to Nathan Beaulieu being hurt currently Barberio has seen a dramatic rise in his playing time. The Montreal native recorded one assist this past week in a thrilling 4-3 win over the Washington Capitals.
Mac Bennett: Though he was recalled from the Brampton Beast amid all of the injury problems, he did not play any games for St. John’s.
Lucas Lessio: The speedy winger hasn’t been in the lineup since February 16th for the Canadiens, and is a healthy scratch.
Gabriel Dumont: The captain returned to action in a big way. He registered a three-point game in a 5-1 trouncing of the Syracuse Crunch, scoring an empty net goal and adding a pair of assists.
Jacob de la Rose: It’s been tough for the defensive forward in the NHL. He hasn’t recorded any points in two weeks, and has been saddled with extremely tough defensive assignments.
Joel Hanley: After several weeks of no production, Hanley broke out of his slump and recorded a goal and an assist in the win over Syracuse.
Victor Bartley: With injuries impacting the Habs’ lineup, Bartley has been thrust into a bigger role than expected while playing alongside Mark Barberio.
Brett Lernout: The rookie blueliner broke his pointless streak when he grabbed the primary assist on Charles Hudon’s 17th goal of the year.
Connor Crisp: Crisp is still out with an injury, having only seen action in 10 games so far in 2015-16.
Darren Dietz: It was a slump busting week for the IceCaps defensemen, ending his slide with a primary assist on a Hudon goal.
Nikita Scherbak: The Scherbak-at-centre experiment is back on, and the rookie forward responded with an outstanding three games. Scherbak registered an assist in every game the IceCaps played, and is looking more and more at home in the professional ranks.
Jeremy Grégoire: The rookie forward returned to the IceCaps lineup this week, but failed to record any points.
Mark MacMillan: After several productive weeks, the former North Dakota standout was held off the scoresheet in three games played.
Tim Bozon: It took a bit longer than expected but Bozon recorded the first two goals of his AHL career in a 4-3 loss to the Albany Devils.

Michaël Bournival: The veteran forward is on the shelf with an undisclosed injury, but it is rumored to be yet another concussion.
Max Friberg: The shifty winger continues to be a quietly effective force for the IceCaps. He grabbed another assist this week on Tim Bozon’s first AHL goal.
Ryan Johnston: Despite firing everything but the kitchen sink at opposing goalies with nine shots on goal, the puck moving blueliner was unable to register a point.
John Scott: Though he did not record any points, he did have his first fight as a member of the IceCaps against Darren Archibald of the Utica Comets.
Zach Fucale: After stringing together back-to-back weeks of solid starts, the rookie netminder struggled in his two starts against Albany and Utica. He allowed three goals in each start, both of which happened to be losses for St. John’s.

It was another tough week in Central New York for the IceCaps who earned just two out of a possible six points against divisional rivals.

The IceCaps will kick off March with a pair of home games against the Albany Devils this Friday and Saturday. These are big games for them, as they can’t afford to give up points to a division rival if they hope to make the playoffs.
