IceCaps Player of the Week: John Scott
It was an incredible offensive performance for the IceCaps’ enforcer. It was the best run of production in his entire career, contributing two assists and a goal in a four-game span. With four points in 18 games with St. John’s, Scott hasn’t produced at this rate since putting up 12 points in 53 games in the North American Hockey League 15 years ago.
While not known for his scoring ability, the added offence coming from the behemoth enforcer is a bonus for a young IceCaps bottom six. His linemate, Andrew Yogan, is the primary beneficiary of this offensive outburst, with the PTO signee riding a multi-game point streak.

Charles Hudon: It was a solid performance for Hudon once again, collecting his 20th goal of the year and an assist in a 4-2 win over Binghamton, and earning an emergency recall to the Montreal Canadiens. He was in the Habs top six for a 4-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night.
Bud Holloway:Even with a rotating cast of forwards around him, Holloway steadily produced points for St. John’s. He scored the game-winning goal against Hershey on Saturday night and then added an assist in the 3-2 loss in the rematch on Sunday.
With 52 points, Holloway is tied with Mike Sislo for fourth overall in the AHL scoring race, and is six points back of T.J. Brennan for third.
Michael McCarron: The gargantuan forward is spending the rest of the season with Montreal. He did not record any points in three games played, but did record five shots on goal, and is gradually adapting to a role in the big leagues.
Sven Andrighetto: Also still with the Canadiens, the Swiss winger is on a three-game point streak, collecting four assists over that span.
Daniel Carr: Still the shelf for up to three months with a major knee injury sustained on January 26.
Gabriel Dumont: It was an outstanding sequence of games for the IceCaps captain as he tallied four points in four games played for a depleted St. John’s team. Dumont started with a three-point effort against the Binghamton Senators, tallying his 16th goal of the year and a pair of assists in a 4-2 win. Despite being held scoreless in a rematch against the Senators and in a 2-1 win against Hershey, Dumont scored his 17th goal of the year in a 3-2 loss to the Bears on Sunday.
Morgan Ellis: Following his brief stint in the NHL, Ellis returned to St. John’s and picked up right where he left off. In four games he registered a team-high 13 shots, and grabbed a pair of assists, giving him a total of 21 on the year, which is good enough for fourth overall on the IceCaps.
Mark Barberio: The Montreal native has been bumped up to the top pairing alongside Andrei Markov, and he’s stepped into the role flawlessly. He has recorded a goal and two assists over his last two games played.
Mac Bennett: With Darren Dietz on recall, the former Michigan Wolverine made his way into the lineup, but failed to add any points to his season total.
Lucas Lessio: The speedy winger finally broke into the Habs lineup against the Dallas Stars and recorded one assist before becoming a healthy scratch again.
Jacob de la Rose: Another week of no production from the checking forward, who is playing with a rotating cast of linemates.
Joel Hanley: The defenceman’s goal-scoring streak came to an end, and he now sports a four-game pointless stretch.
Victor Bartley: With P.K. Subban out injured, Bartley returned to the Habs lineup, paired alongside Darren Dietz in Saturday’s game versus the Minnesota Wild.
Brett Lernout: The rookie blue-liner grabbed a pair of assists and showed off his smooth skating stride on a few offensive rushes.
Connor Crisp: Crisp is still out with an injury, having only seen action in 10 games so far in 2015-16.
Darren Dietz: Dietz took a big step in his professional career, earning a recall to the NHL, and making his debut in a 4-1 loss to the Wild.
Jeremy Grégoire: The rookie forward was bumped up to the third line for a few games, but it had no effect on his production in what was been a meagre offensive season.
Mark MacMillan: MacMillan did not register any games in the four games he played.
Tim Bozon: Since his short stint with the Brampton Beast, Bozon has been slowly earning Sylvain Lefebvre’s trust. Though he didn’t hit the scoresheet, he was put on the team’s penalty-killing unit, and the IceCaps didn’t allow a single goal while down a man in their four contests.
Michaël Bournival: The veteran forward is on the shelf with an undisclosed injury, but it is rumored to be yet another concussion.
Max Friberg: With the lineup thinning because of recalls and injuries, Friberg stepped up his game in an increased role with the team. He registered a pair of goals and was one of the most noticeable forwards in the offensive zone.
Ryan Johnston: The playmaking blue-liner has been a solid addition for the IceCaps. He registered his eighth assist of the year on Gabriel Dumont’s goal versus the Senators.
Zach Fucale: It continues to be a Jekyll and Hyde season for the rookie netminder. He got the start in just one game, which was a 4-1 loss to the Binghamton Senators.

The IceCaps earned a split, but losing in the final minute to Hershey on Sunday, and failing to grab even a point for getting the game to overtime was a blow to their playoff chances.

After almost a week off, St. John’s plays three games in three nights starting this Friday against the Utica Comets, then meeting the Syracuse Crunch on Saturday and Sunday. Gaining at least four points is mandatory, and getting at least five of the possible six would be outstanding for their playoff chances.
