IceCaps 2016-17 Season Schedule Released

The schedule for the upcoming American Hockey League season was released on Monday afternoon, and it has the St. John’s IceCaps in action for 76 games, starting the season on the road on October 14th against the Hartford Wolf Pack.

The IceCaps will play the first six games of the season on the road before heading back to the Mile One Center in St. John’s for the home opener on October 28th against the Rochester Americans. In all, the team will play 38 games at home, and 38 games on the road.

As is normal in the AHL to minimize travel costs, the IceCaps will play three games in three nights six times, and back-to-back games 25 times. This is actually a major improvement on last season’s schedule where the IceCaps would play three games in three nights almost every week, and rarely play during the week.

As to what this year’s edition of the IceCaps will look like, EOTP released a series of articles recently on the potential forwards, defencemen, and goalies who will compete for Head Coach Sylvain Lefebvre in his goal of breaking the team’s five year playoff drought.
