Despite being behind after one, the Habs played fairly well in the first period. Max Pacioretty is faster than pretty much everyone but Karlsson on the Sens roster, which enabled him to see two breakaways, both stopped by Lehner.
Montreal’s powerplay continues to struggle, and they have very little time to fix it. They’ll have to come up with something, because starting the season with this woeful man-advantage is not a real option.
