Bergevin: Brendan Gallagher sustained a broken jaw late in Game 5

Brendan Gallagher played an excellent game on Wednesday, starting from his first shift and a physical battle in the Philadlephia Flyers end, to his first goal of the post-season with a mid-air bat of the puck, and being involved in the play right to the end of the game.

One of those final acts was to get cross-checked in the mouth by Matt Niskanen late in the third period, being bloodied by the shot.

After the game was done, the report is that there were more than just a few lost teeth, but that Gallagher have have sustained a fractured jaw. Renaud Lavoie and Eric Engels have been hearing that that may be the case.

UPDATE: Renaud Lavoie confirmed his report that tests revealed a broken jaw for Gallagher on Thursday evening. Pierre LeBrun reported that Marc Bergevin confirmed the news.
