According to Renaud Lavoie, Alex Semin will be pursuing overseas options, in the goal of finding a contract with a KHL team.
Alexander Semin goal right now is to find a team in the KHL in the next few days. Not sure now he’ll report to the IceCaps. Could change.

It’s not a shock that a 31-year-old would prefer to avoid playing in the AHL, considering his tenure with the Canadiens was tumultuous to say the least. There’s no word on whether or not any KHL teams have shown interest in signing the oft-maligned forward, who played with Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo during the lockout.
For Semin to sign in the KHL, there needs to be a mutual agreement for a contract termination between himself and the Habs. If that that happens, his contract will come off the books.
