The Professional Women’s Hockey League is nearing its January 1 start date, and after tickets and merchandise have started to go on sale, broadcast details are starting to emerge, Eyes on the Prize has learned.

CBC Sports has a PWHL streaming schedule on their website that includes Canadian team games, including January 1’s inaugural game between Toronto and New York (with a pre-game show), and Montreal’s game in Minnesota on January 6. There is a late night replay scheduled as well for that game, as well.

Although we have not been able to confirm this, a pre-game show and a late-night replay on the streaming schedule could indicate that there is a TV broadcast portion to this schedule as well. The PWHL has said in the past that most games will be on actual television in addition to streaming. They also confirmed that games broadcast in Canada and the United States will be available by streaming to those in the other country.

Eyes on the Prize has also learned that Montreal’s inaugural game in Ottawa at 7:00 p.m on January 2 will be broadcast on RDS. This was also available on their website.

RDS and CBC Sports have both shown a significant buy-in in their media coverage. CBC Sports had reporters at all Canadian camps, and in Utica, New York for the PWHL’s pre-season tournament. Likewise, RDS had two reporters in Utica, and have had a presence at PWHL camps. TSN, and other mainstream outlets have also been covering the league and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see other outlets or networks involved.

Although this news is more Canadian-centric, expect there to be some American coverage when all details are announced as well.
