Canadiens vs Flyers game thread & lineups

I feel like this four game home stand is like a best franchises of the 70s medley. The Habs have faced a 3 time winner* of the Avco cup in the Jets and the only two franchises (Bruins and Flyers) not named the Canadiens to win cups in the 70s. Throw-in the Guy Lapointe sweater retirement party against the Wild and this week has a definite 70s flavour to it.

And now, as then, sees the Canadiens beating up on their opponents.

The Canadiens posted one of their most convincing wins of the season against the Bruins on Thursday and look to stretch their four game win streak to five against the Flyers who are missing 3 core D in Timonen, Schenn, and MacDonald. The Flyers, however, are not easy pickings as they, unlike the Bruins, have a functional top line in Simmonds, Giroux, and Voracek. Voracek is currently riding high on a nine game point streak and has rounded into one of the games most offensive wings.

The Habs may once again dress 7 D with Nathan Beaulieu seeing time on the fourth line wing with Drayson Bowman waiting to make his Habs season debut. sitting (he made a forgettable debut against the Jets).

Puck drop is at 7:00 PM EST (8:30 In Newfoundland!)

*Modern day Jets aren’t the same franchise, but the name is the same – cut me some slack. The current Jets seem to be more of a spiritual successor to the WHA team than the Phoenix Coyotes.

Check out the opposing side at Broad Street Hockey (like they need any more hits)
