Canadiens vs Senators second period thread

Defenseman down. Alexei Emelin missed a hit on Mark Stone and went down into the boards hard looking to injure the upper part of his body. There has been no official word from the Habs about if he will return, but he did not play the rest of the first period. P.K. Subban logged 10:40 minutes in support of Emelin’s absence.

The Habs tested third-string goalie Andrew Hammond early on with shots from outside of the Senators defensive perimeter. Five minutes into the first period and he had already made six saves, and with six minutes left in the period made his first career breakaway save on Max Pacioretty. On the other end of the ice, Dustin Tokarski stood tall, with some help from P.K. Subban and the post, as the Senators threw 28 shot attempts at the net, hitting the net for 14.
