Habsent Minded North Division Playoff Preview: Winnipeg Jets with Murat Ates

The Athletic’s Murat Ates joins the podcast in order to follow up on his preseason preview of the Winnipeg Jets. While not all has been great in the fly zone, there has been interesting developments. Patrik Laine is gone, and has been replaced with Pierre-Luc Dubois, in a blockbuster move that the jury is still out on. What has the French Canadian meant for the Jets?

Could Nik Ehlers be the breakout player of the playoffs for the Jets? While Ehlers is injured at the moment, he says he will be back for the playoffs and Murat makes a good case for Ehlers.

The Jets team will face one of the most potent offences in the league, and the key to beating the team that bested them 7-2 during the season has to be the defence. Murat does not hold back when it comes to the the potential short comings of the team in that respect.

However, not all who wander are lost, backstopping a fragile defence is one of the best, if not the best, goalie in the league. Connor Hellebuyck leads the NHL in goals saved above expectation with 19.3 and it will be the goalie who will lead the team from the back.

We dive into the Montreal – Toronto match up before Murat gives his his prediction for the Western series.
