The Canadiens had a few quality chances to get on the board, but it was the least dangerous shot of the first two periods that ultimately gave them their first goal. Nikita Scherbak fired the puck from the side boards through a screen from Tomas Plekanec, banking it off Craig Anderson and into the net.
