Lines and notes from Habs morning skate: Status quo at the trade deadline

After a hard fought 4-3 shootout loss to Tampa Bay on Saturday night, the Canadiens were back on the ice for practice in the midst of the trade deadline frenzy. Missing, obviously, was Tomas Plekanec who was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Both Rinat Valiev and Kerby Rychel were immediately assigned to the Laval Rocket, so they were not a part of practice.

The only major change is Logan Shaw drawing back into the lineup while Byron Froese is looking to be a healthy scratch for the time being. Andrew Shaw continues to work his way back from injury and will miss the game tonight as well.

The defence remains the same with Noah Juulsen remaining in his top-four role alongside Karl Alzner.

In net, Antti Niemi is listed as the starter right now, but per Eric Engels, it is Charlie Lindgren who is taking over the starter’s net in practice.

These lines could always change as the trade deadline trudges on, but as it stands all of Montreal’s mentioned trade assets are on the ice right now.
