Moose hold off Bulldogs 4-3

The Manitoba Moose got two first period goals from Kevin Connauton, but it took a shootout to take a 4-3 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs Thursday night in Winnipeg.

The Dogs rallied back  from the two-goal deficit with a pair of power play goals, and the two teams exchanged goals in the third period.

After the five minute overtime couldn’t decide it, Marco Rosa and Jordan Schroeder solved Robert Mayer in the shootout. The Bulldogs were unable to beat Moose goaltender Eddie Lack.

The two teams will meet again Friday night in Winnipeg.

Hamilton’s power play, which remains consistent so far this season, saw goals from Brendon Nash and Yannick Weber.

Weber’s goal was the 14th power play goal of his career. He now shares the Bulldogs franchise record for career power play goals for a defenseman with Ron Hainsey.

Connautuon and Weber lead AHL defencemen with four goals each this season.

Kevin Clark and Andreas Engqvist had the Mosse and Bulldogs’s third goals respectively.
