Canadiens vs. Sharks third period thread

The Habs didn’t convert on their second period-opening powerplay and it would cost them. Just over three minutes into the second period, Brent Burns fired home his 21st goal of the year. Burns leads all NHL defenseman in goals and moved into a tie for second in points (52) with John Klingberg of the Dallas Stars.

The Habs went neck and neck with the Sharks in possession, but the quality was not nearly as high on their side. They eventually broke through to pull within one when Torrey Mitchell knocked a puck out of midair that had been flipped ahead to him by Paul Byron as he skated into the slot to make the score 3-2. Phillip Danault earned his first point as a Hab on the play.

The Habs don’t look like a team that’s daunted by the task ahead of them. Don’t go to sleep yet, the Habs could surprise in this one.
