The Habs did not come out with a very convincing performance to start the second period, and eventually ended up giving the Hurricanes another opportunity on the powerplay. Lars Eller kept it 1-1 on an amazing block as the Canes attacked the net on a three on two. Eller fell horizontally just as the shot came off Noah Hannifan’s stick and blocked it off his shin-pads to prevent the shot from reaching his keeper.
The Habs have the lead in five-on-five shot attempts, edging the Canes 27-24. It’s 1-1 heading into the second period.
