Cayden Primeau tries to keep his personal run of great performances going. He has helped the Canadiens earn at least a point in five of his last seven starts and has won his last three matches at the Bell Centre, surrendering a total of one goal in those games.
It’s no easy opponent he faces this evening, a Tampa Bay Lightning team on a mission to improve its playoff position. Primeau was in net the last time the Habs and Lightning met, and was able to claim a point in a shootout loss on March 2, stopping 26 of the 29 shots he faced through 65 minutes. That was at Amalie Arena, where the Lightning have played significantly better this year.
Joel Armia and Nick Suzuki will be trying their best to give him some run support, but teams are finding that difficult with how well Tampa Bay is playing defensively. Even the Toronto Maple Leafs only managed one goal a night ago, so Montreal will need to force its way into the high-danger areas to avoid a similar fate.
