Montreal Canadiens’ series against Toronto Maple Leafs to start May 20

The Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs will play their first playoff game against each other since 1979 on Thursday, May 20.

The National Hockey League released the schedule for the first-round series between the two Canadian teams.

The first game in Montreal will be on Monday, May 24 and will be a back-to-back for games three and four. Game seven would take place on May 31 if it is required.

The schedule gives the Canadiens a little over a full week between games, as they finished their regular season on Wednesday. The Leafs finish their regular season against the Winnipeg Jets on Friday.

Game times are to be determined after a 7:30p.m. start on Thursday and a 7:00 p.m. start on Saturday for game two. Given the two teams, it is unlikely they will play any afternoon games for the entirety of the series.

The series between the Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets will start Wednesday, May 19.
