The Montreal Canadiens sent forward Lucas Condotta to the Laval Rocket on Friday, paving the way for the expected return of Alex Newhook on Saturday.
Condotta played three games with the Canadiens this season on two separate recalls. He did not earn a point. He has one NHL goal, which was scored in his only NHL appearance last season. He has five goals and eight assists in 40 games with the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League this season.
Newhook practiced with the Canadiens on the first power play unit on Friday, the first indication that he will return to the ice. Along with Condotta’s demotion, it seems pretty clear. Newhook’s last game came against the Florida Panthers on November 30 and was expected out 10-12 weeks with a high ankle sprain.
He has seven goals and six assists in 23 NHL games this season, his first with the Canadiens.
