The Montreal Canadiens have sent forward Emil Heineman down to the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League.

Heineman was a healthy scratch for the Canadiens loss to the San Jose Sharks as Rafaël Harvey-Pinard returned to the lineup for the first time since his injury. Heineman played two games since being recalled when the team needed forwards after being forced to play 11 forwards and seven defenders for a couple of games following Christian Dvorak’s injury.

He will now go back to the Laval Rocket, and will likely play on Friday night when they host the Manitoba Moose for the first of two games this weekend. The Rocket need forwards, and the Canadiens acquired Filip Cederqvist earlier in the day to add to Laval’s Swedish contingent which also includes Mattias Norlinder and Lias Andersson.

The Canadiens now have 22 players on the active roster, one under the limit, with three goaltenders, seven defenders, and 12 forwards. Both the Rocket and Canadiens are close to the same area over the next week, which will make any necessary recalls easy should they be required.
